Great!
I just want someone who will let them be bums...Most of the time. For those who like horses, here are pics
This is the older mare, Rhythm (oops wrong one, this one's better)

*sigh* Maybe when I'm old and grey I'll be able to afford one.

Now a question - I have a feather picker, I'm pretty sure it's just one as there aren't many pickings, so how would I figure out who it is, and once I do, what do I do to fix it?

You need to look again... I posted the wrong pic of the mare... This one's the better...

You've got me on the picker Bonnie. Maybe someone else has some ideas about it...

Everyone is always busy on here when I'm gone.
Donna they are so pretty! I hope you find good homes for them.

I have three 5 month old doelings. I want to get milk from them for cheese, butter, soap and well, milk of course, but they keep getting out of their fence. They have a huge chain link yard, a nice insulated house, it even has a covered porch area for them to be outside and out of the rain, yummy hay....but nooooo, they get out and cross the road to eat the neighbors fancy trees.

I'm afraid they'll get out and get shot, stolen or ran over. They're pushing against the fence until they find a weak spot to go under.
Anyhow, I'm considering finding them a new home, but I don't want to split them up, they've been together since birth, I bottle fed them from the day after they were born.
The plan was to rotate them and have one in milk and give the others a break. I wouldn't need to have them all in milk at the same time.

Bonnie, do you only have the one polish?

Aimee your goats are too human... the grass is always greener...lol

I have two, but only one white crested. The other is all copper colored. Does that make a difference in the picking? Plus I'm finding occasional tail/butt picking on a few other birds, but not much. And I hate to take the Polish out til he's completely healed because he's my head Roo and VERY good at it. Nice, gentle, doesn't fight a lot... I'd hate for him to lose his place.

Aimee,
You might want to consider getting an electric fence and putting it both on the inside and the outside of your pen. They will learn to respect the charge.

I guess I have two blue orpington roos and two red chanteclers. Any one on here interested in one of them? I hate to send them to the freezer if there is anyone looking for these breeds.

Tori, I finally saw "sparkly" feathers on both PJ and Button.

I sure hate to have to choose between them. On another note, how are your spradle legged pullets? I finally had to cull mine. The other birds had "circled the wagons" on poor Spradle and were getting ready to finish her off. Fortunately I was there to intervene. I don't want them to get any bad habits, but can understand their behavior toward and injured bird.

We miss her.

How dark are the Red Chanteclers? I'm loving this buff boy. He's awesome. I was considering breeding him to the Orloff pullets when he's old enough, but the Red might be even prettier!

Also, what was the approximate hatch date? Are the pullets old enough to be laying yet? I'm wondering about them as layers. Maybe I'll go for a good Sandhill order next spring and get some Orloffs and Chanteclers. Were you happy with the dress out on the other Chantecler cockerels you ordered?

Sorry to hear about Spradle. It's always tough to lose the "pet" of the bunch.
