Never MADE it to the swap meet as I was transporting people and insulating the coop!

I thought you said "Insulting the coop". It has been too long of a day.

I sold 6 more cockerals today. Things are very quiet now and the girls are happy.

Hello guy I have been reading your post and loving it!! Its nice to find a place that has chicken raising in Alaska. Man all I have seen and read was about hot wether areas. Like that help here in alaska.

Im new to the hole chicken thing. I have 4 little mix chickens in my run out side with a nice big chicken coop and 4 geese.

I don"t quite know how the geese got here. I was all about trying to find some nice chickens and then got distracted i guess it was one of my "ohhh shinny " moments. But hay geese they lay nice big eggs and I know one is a girl so i will have some eggs and if the others are boys i can all ways eat them. Im trying to get my chicken numbers up a little with not much luck. Who know it would be hard to find chickens that i like.

I was trying to hatch BCM eggs but have failed lol The first mail order eggs looked like they had been drop kicked big dent in the side of the box and out of 18 sent only 8 where undamaged. Yaaa for usps

The second batch made it looking nice all of them still looked good.

i set them turned them watched them for 21 days well longer cause i was hoping for a late hatch if nothing els and nothing. no peeps no nothing

. Shot they did not even start to develop(I cracked them open trying to see what was up

). But hay its my first time hatching eggs there mail order and i cant candle them cause there BCM witch are so dark it just dose not work for me so who knows what is up.

My hubby though has told me i can get more eggs and try to hatch them for my b-day witch is today

so now I am looking for just some hatching eggs that are close to my area. no mail order. of any type so that i can see if it is just me or if it is because of them being handled bad in the mail before i go spending a lot on BCM eggs. If anyone has any out there that they would not mind letting a beginner try and hatch let me know please. I know its a little late in the season and all but im hoping to get the hole hatching problem worked out before spring.

If any chickens do hatch I figuer they can go from bator to brooder to garage witch is only half way heated to insulated chicken coop to free running in the run/coop. That should give them time to get used to the cold.

He is very prettily patterned
