Alaska Chicken Lover's Soup for the Cold!!

Hopefully everyone will integrate quickly and peacefully. My birds are used to being moved around, rearranged, and getting used to new birds, so they should not have any problems.

Jeanette's oldest got her tail picked on a little bit yesterday morning... there was a drop of fresh blood on her tail, so she was purple with blue-kote... I'm sorry.

But I know the tail feathers will grow back.

They've not been outside yet, but they haven't had any extra heat for a while.

Good morning Chicken Train! lol

Sam and I were up from about 3-6am taking pictures, so I'm running a bit late. Check on the new coop and everyone seems to have settled in quite nicely. The silkie is in a bird cage in the coop just so everyone else can get used to her and her size before I let her out for a few supervised visits. If this coop doesn't take to her, she can go in the other one

As Donna said, the two BSL girls hopped right out and make themselves at home. I guess my 'talk' with Rocky yesterday had some effect as everyone seems comfy around him this morning - he was a tad overbearing when I first put him in the coop.

At any rate, I am off soon to do critter chores and then we are headed into town for showers.

I have a big smile on my face... this is what it's all about, sharing these special babies. I'm glad you guys are enjoying them.

The girls in the coop have done well overnight. No one seems surprised to have newcomers. The Silkies and the PFW are just sweet. And so pretty. I don't think I'll move them out to the coop yet, I enjoy visiting with them when I go back and forth during the day! They were all very calm about the whole thing...
Thanks Tori!

I mentioned it before, I think, that my babies are used to being moved around, rearranged, and introduced to new birds almost on a weekly basis. I think it makes it easier to incorporate into new pens.

Well, it's finally above freezing, so I'm heading out to fortify a pen for the young pheasants and turkeys so I can get them out of the garage.

Hubby will be very happy.

My three little ones went into there new coop last night. There was little to no fighting but the other 4 and not having much to do with them. This morning when I did my morning rounds my 4 chickens where out in the run all read hanging out enjoying the day why the other three where in the coop. The older girl is acting like a mother to the two little ones. she keeps them in the back corner when I go in the coop and puts herself in front of them. Its cute. I gave them a little corn and BOSS this morning in the coop so they would get some as I normally toss a little out side in the run when I walk in. They seem to be doing good from what I can see. Like I was saying the older one is mothering them so I cant really get a good look at the two little ones yet. Thank you everyone for your roll in getting me my new chickens. You guys are the best
