The alfalfa is to make up for them not being able to eat grass in the winter.
We did the pellets last year, but they were not real happy with them.

I keep saying I am going to do wheatgrass flats for them, but I haven't started yet. At hay prices up here, it may be cheaper and I think they will love it. It's very good for them. Anyway, I guess it depends on whether or not you have space for the trays, though....
