Anyone in the Valley want to sale any close to laying or just started laying hens? I have a friend that has two hens and would like more hens to snuggle for warmth with. Let me know. Thanks

Just a little too late... most of my POL pullets were taken up on Sunday!

Bonnie, Minnie Pearl was one of my favorite Hee Haw personalities.

The silkie just needs a price tag on her top knot, and she'll be the spittin' image.

Deb, glad you're home safe and sound... next time, stay away from the Crab Shack before the airport, ok?

Too bad there aren't more shows like hee haw ...I think the kids would be better off if there were!

Minnie Pearl was a very funny lady...

There I go timestamping myself again!

I know who it is! I was just messing with you! I actually had a Minnie Pearl hat when I was a little girl. I went through a phase where I would wear it EVERYWHERE. My mother found it quite embarrassing! It was better than when I went through the napkin hat phase, though...

The two new girls still haven't got names. They should have names, but there's still some dispute between my DH and DD over who is going to "get" the Silk D'Uccle. Kids...I swear! Nah, I'm just kidding. My DH did such a wonderful job getting a coop constructed that I wanted to get him something special...the SD. Didn't count on DD falling in love with her, too! Rats.
They are hanging out in the shed for now with all the amenities. I had put them in with the big girls for a tiny bit when we first got them home, but there was too much of a ruckus...head pecking and jumping on them. I'll let everyone outside for awhile each day and hopefully they'll get used to each other before it gets snowy.

She's a cutie, for sure.

I think I'm going to have to "make" a few more of those next year. I already have another "project" chicken that I've sort of been wrangled into doing... was discussing the possibilities with someone and next thing I know she's posting about it and all but advertising!! LOL! I told her I couldn't start until Spring, at least Feb, and that it would likely be several years before we had a true-breeding product.

But the Silk d'Uccle is easy enough... so hopefully we'll have more next year.

Elizabeth, please be sure to send photos, especially interactive photos with the kids... I like to add them to my gallery.

Good News
well I have a Tracking number for the Columbian Rock eggs from Scott, they are due here on Saturday.
Dont know how that will work out as there is no counter access on Saturday at my PO. I will have to call them and see if we can arrange a special pickup!

I will be working on that in a few minutes,

Bad News
that last earth quake did something to the Septic system, part of it has collapsed in about 3 foot deep and 16 foot long by 4-6 foot accross! So next is trying to figure out if it is the old one or the current one and figuring out what to do with a trench in my yard!
