Tori, I'd like to order a dozen Ameraucana eggs from you to hatch out, my internet explorer kicks me off the internet often in case I disappear
Its been a long and cold winter up here so only raised three BO pullets and 1 cockerel who froze the ends of his toes when the heater turned off while I was at work one night (Also raised 3 half RIR/half BO pullets at the same time) I gave my banty flock away to a young couple to enjoy w/their two youngsters and only kept back the silkie pair (from your eggs), a banty wyandotte hen and a banty blue EE hen I created last year (from a banty roo and standard sized black EE hens) who lays a blue egg Cheryl
As for hatching, I'll be setting some of Tori's Ameraucana eggs And, some eggs my neighbor Lucy will collect from her RIR hens since we put my half n half RIR/BO rooster in with her hens last January. We don't have a purebred RIR roo but my halfbreed roo is a very nice guy out of my BO Brewster and his mama is purebred RIR named Peppermint Patty. I think that will be the only hatching I do this year.
I just remembered last year I raised a GLW roo and he's got one GLW hen so I'll be hatching out a few of their eggs but not until after the first hatch batch of Ameraucana's and also neighbor Lucy's RIR's
But then that's it...only the two hatch batches, cross my fingers and hope to...LOL
Hey everybody!
I set 42 eggs on Easter Sunday. I didn't candle until about day 14 - removed 5 eggs that were pretty much clear. Lockdown was Thursday night - I had 21 BLRW from Susan at Wildwood Farms (her birds are awesome!). The other 16 were from my own flock - one of Susan's BLRW roos I got from her last year over my hens - 4 BOs, 1 Golden Buff, 1 blue splash Cochin, and I also have a Partridge Cochin and a SLW that must have some Cochin in her as she has foot feathering. I don't think any of the eggs were from the last two hens. Anyway, altho hatch day is officially tomorrow, starting Friday the chicks started popping out like little fuzzy butt popcorn! All but 5 eggs have now hatched, and one of the remaining has pipped. Hopefully all will hatch! Pics below
I'm 'specially excited about the chick I THINK is a lavendar Cochin out of the blue splash hen - what do you guys think?
