I have a Black Australorp and a White Leghorn Pullet that need to go to a new home.
But Hatched March 8th.

I have too many and need to cut down just a tad.

well if I can figure out my trucks problem .......I would love to pick them up!
But I have no transportation at the moment.....I am walking or arranging rides to work the Nenana Ice Classic.....by the way, the ice is getting way thin........
ETA: they would fit right in with my Feb (2 hatches) & March hatched chicks! In my new coop!

Aimee, don't get all technical on us...
I set my eggs on Wednesdays. Sometimes mid-day, sometimes evening, depends on how busy I am. But it doesn't matter when I do it. I candle on Sunday afternoon, and depending on what they look like, I will lock them down Monday morning. Occasionally I get an overachiever, and if I see a beak pipped into the airsac, I will go ahead and lock them down on Sunday. But 9 times out of 10, if I lock them down on Monday morning, I have a pip late Tuesday, and they start hatching on Wednesday/Thursday. I never understood why people look at the number of days. If you set on a Sunday, they are due on Sunday.

When did you set your eggs?


I still only have the one pip... they are goint to draw this out to the bitter end, I just know it.

But it's rocking, so I know we're still good. Another duckling is starting to zip, so hopefully the noise will continue to draw out the Marans. I had to open the incubator to pull out more eggs that needed to go into lockdown. I brought out a homemade to accomodate them. *sigh* I am so tired...

I set them on a Wednesday. Day 18 isn't lockdown day then?
If I don't ask, and something goes wrong, then I'll always wonder about my process. It's the way that I am, lol.

But it's perfectly ok to lock down on Saturday, too. I would candle them tonight... if all look good, either lock them down tonight, or first thing in the morning. If you see the outline of a beak in the airsac, then definitely do it tonight.
