Earlier while I was putting all the chicks away for the night, I had a little Barred Rock that thought her dry spot under the tree was pretty cozy and didn't want to go into the coop. While I was "herding" her I slipped and hit my shin on a tree stump.
Hope you don't mind a little knee showing,

I ended up with a nice lump.

I have ice on it, and it's elevated...I don't know what else I can do for it. I don't think anythings broken, just deep bruising.

I'm not sure how the whole fishing line thing works. I was told one theory, It's believed when birds of prey send down their "radar" (I don't know the techy term) that they know something is there
but they don't know what the danger is, so they don't attempt going into the area....With tarps and netting they can see it, so they know where they can perch and can't. (knock on wood) We have yet to have a problem, even
with our birds free ranging.

If you want to give it a week I'll have a special gift for you if you'd like to try again......

Deb, you are correct. This has been the case with friends of ours in Kodiak. Just make sure you can show the DLP. I am all for management of our wildlife, nature, resources...; however, we do need to protect our own and at times it requires tough measures.

Yep, our problem around here are the fur bearing predators. I don't hesitate one bit when I see
a furry critter in my yard. It'll be back and I'm not giving it that chance. We have gone through many
different measures to keep our flock safe, if that critter decides to make my flock dinner there isn't anytime
for emotion....as far as I'm concerned it's up to me to keep them safe.

I just want everyone to know, it is your right to protect your livestock in the state of Alaska....

Hey Clyde! Thanks for joining us!
