Soooooo up at 0600 to head to fairbanks and get runner ducks
big_smile.png
We picked up 6 runner ducks and my husband kept wanting two of these two of those and I was able to get him to only get two silkies and two polish day old chicks. He has wanted polish chickens since he first saw them years ago so I guess he did good waiting this long

Now if my eggs would just get here!!!

All new fluffy butts are doing well and went Bou hunting and came home with meat and ...........................I started 27 eggs tonight

For your hatch!
Hope you get some "bou sometime Tori, It's been a couple of years here too. Plenty of moose though, so that's good.
I think we're good to meet chicks tomorrow! (Sunday) IF all goes according to plan.

Crossing fingers for everyone to have a wonderful hatch!

All is well here, I have a little BW that has spraddle leg, they were hatched yesterday and I'm hoping I didn't catch it
too late. I have had to retape him/her 3 times today, the tape gets pulled off by the others. So now instead of the nice
white "gentle" fabric tape I have the nasty plastic medical tape. Maybe that will hold for at least overnight! lol

Deb how is the spraddle leg chick doing now? I had this happen just once and it wasn't very severe, but I'd sure like to know what works best if it crops up again.

Well I have tried two different tapes and band aids, nothing has held until just this afternoon. Everyone else keeps picking it off of him.
I also lined the bottom with that no slip shelf stuff at the suggestion of some rude person under the Quail forum....lol......I have always used paper towels
in my brooders. Not the cheap kind that is smooth but the brawny or something substantial that has a lot of texture to it. Never had a problem until
now.....

But he has a new band aid on, it's held up for a few hours now but he's not too happy about it. I hope he'll still
eat and drink with that thing on his legs. Trying to get a little tiny band aid on a new born quail chick one handed
is certainly a good test of patience! Its like trying to tape a bee to the wall!

It's so hard with the little ones!! I use the really nubby shelf liner too. I had 6 chicks with wide-open spraddle leg a few weeks ago... overnight on the liner, and I could only find one that was still having problems.

Good luck with the little booger. You almost need a microscope and tweezers to work on them!! LOL!

Donna... The girls left about 3:00pm, though the weather was a mixed bag so who knows how long it will be. Probably about 7 pm..?

Oh thanks Tori! It's been sunny to snowing here

Typical stuff for March I guess. I hope they take their time then, that road is crazy even in good weather.
I have started using the shelf stuff with the new ones too. The paper towel usually worked well enough til I got my little spraddled chick, but I wouldn't like to have to put bandaids on a chick so tiny...That has to be hard!
