How often does THAT happen?!! It's all good Deb...

I meant to say your name is on him, since this other older roo I have is headed to Tori I don't know if she still needs her name on another one
or not? Tori do you need another roo? It looks like I'll have 3......so far......lol

Well the first time I did this with the same kit I had 28 hatch out of the 30, so I can attest that it was worth it the first time around.

Good grief Im so excited I can't even type and think...ha!

I'm good Deb... I have a baby in the brooder as backup. Don't know what he looks like yet, but he's related so he's second string.

I just shut down one of my cabinet incubators... not enough eggs to fill both yet. Key word there... "yet".

Last nights Candling did not make me a Happy Camper...

Out of the 30 eggs set for hatching 4/8/2010
we are now down to 24 possible.

Egg Culls:
# 1-3 EE infertile (none of her eggs left in the incubator)

# 15 & 18 infertile
# 23 - Culled Day 7 (blackspots on egg) assumed Baterial contamination. Eggtopsy revealed a developing chick.

there are several that look like they have movement and a couple that might have bloodrings. so I will leave them for another day oe two and recandle again.

I did see movement clearly in a couple, however I believe the incubators temperature has been very low. New Thermometer added last night, showed temp to only be 97.3, so adjustments were made.

I will candle again on Saturday, and attempt to adjust the hatch date by my findings at that time.

I don't feel so good. Bare with me here....I just have a little vent.

I had a guy call me when the Quail hatched and was wanting all the quail. He has had quail before, knew all about them etc......I got the fuzzies when on the phone with him. He was wonderful.

Well, today he came to pick them up. And during the conversation he stated he was just going to stick them in a box outside with a heat lamp! I SAID OH NO! YOU CANT DO THAT!!!!!! Then explained to
him that they have to remain inside for at least 5-6 more weeks, then they go to a heated coop where they can keep warm....explained that any sort of breeze would kill these little guys...you know the drill.....

He was surprised to hear that....and said he would have to make other arrangements to keep them inside and then he left with the quail....... I was so upset when they left...I felt HORRIBLE! I have never had this problem with a chick leaving.

My stomach still hurts......
