Aimee, you are most welcome, and I hope it was worth the wait.

You be good to those babies, and they'll grow up to be big like Daddy.

Donna, I'm glad he's settling in. He was always the first one to come up to my hand, and loves chest-scritches.

I would just cup him up to my chin and rub his face, and he'd just take it all in. Hope you have a few girls in there with the Ameraucanas. I need to get a jeweler's loup to try to see if I can sex day-old chicks...

So I called the about the BLRW eggs in the add, and she was really nice, said she started out with some Murry McMurray birds and some others she got from out of state. Anyhow, she offered to give me the eggs to hatch and I would take what I wanted and give the rest back to her.
So my question is, what would I look for in a newly hatched chick as far as the blue lacing goes? Would I be able to tell if they were going to be blue laced or not? I wouldn't be breeding them, I just think they're a pretty breed, and would like a couple for my chickavision.
Sooo, do you think it would be a good idea, or a bad idea?

Aimie depending on what color is crossed with what you will get 50% blue lace 25% splash and 25% black. I've hatched a few (6) and had 4 blues and 2 splashes. The splashes are actually a very light form of the blue lace and rather nice. I think if you cross black with splash you will get 100% blue. The splashes are buff colored when they hatch (not yellow) and the blue lace are darker with chipmunk markings (in my limited experience.) The black ones are black or very dark I understand. I never have gotten one of those. Does that help? If you try it and get some chicks we could look at them, (or you can take pictures) to determine what you probably have.

Thank you Donna, I figure if I hatch them, and none of them look right, I can just give them all back to her. At least it would give me a bit more hatching experience. I would love it if you'd look at them.

I'd be glad to Aimie...Who can resist new chicks anyway! I'd really like to see what you get from this. I read that ad and am really curious now about her flock.

I have 12 BLRWs going in tomorrow too, my last hatch, with the Norwegians, so we can compare notes.

Tori, thank you as well for my Blue Orps, they are all so cute. I can't wait to see what they will look like once they are feathered out! I also picked up 2 Welsummers today
