Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :
I am sick to my stomach this morning...
Last night I was candling eggs that I had won on an auction... they are a week along and showing signs of growth. My husband was in the next room on the computer, and called me out to look at something. Guess who forgot to go back in and put the eggs back in the incubator?
The light was off in the room because I was candling, but I left the door open and I never do that. The 1502 beeps through its turning cycle, so I keep the door closed. I thought it was odd that the door was open this morning, but I've been so tired lately that I didn't think anything of it. Until now. I saw those eggs sitting there, and now I just want to cry. I put them in the incubator... they'be been out for less than 10 hours, max, in a room that is about 65°F. What do you think the chances are that they're OK?
Oh Tori, that's so awful!
I have asked a lot of questions about that though after so many power outages this year. ( One lasted for 17 hours but I had a generator) A couple of people told me that inadvertently the power to their incubators had been out about as long as yours was. One of them had the bator in a 65 degree room and the bator got unplugged overnight. She still got about 50% to hatch. I think you have a chance. I unplugged my lavs by mistake for goodness knows how long (5 hrs anyway) and a third of those hatched which is about as many as I would have probably gotten anyway so you just never know. Don't give up yet!
