The Dellies came from MyPetChicken.com.
I got a total 15 from MyPetChicken.com, but most of them died during the trip.
I got the rest (20) as a Straight-Run from Cackle Hatchery. 15 survived the trip.
Some of the survivors I already sold, as I did not need that many. (Only wanted 2-3 of each breed)
The MyPetChicken chicks were bought as Pullets, but the rest were a Straight Run from Cackle.
I have GOT to have a Roo in there SOMEWHERE. LOL
But if not, YEAH BABY!
Again, I need to get rid of Pooey (the Leghorn), and one of the Australorps.
In about 2 weeks, I am also going to be re-homing any of the extras I get from my 2nd shipment from Cackle.
I got 5 RIR's coming, 5 Cinnamon Queens, and 5 Brown Leghorns.
I want to keep 2 RIR's, 2 CQ's, and 2-3 Leghorns. The rest will need to GO.
If any one of you guys wants them, PLEASE let me know!
Again, they will be FREE to you guys ONLY.
Thinking of ordering some meat birds. Stephanie and I would be going in on a order. Do you have any thoughts on which hatchery? Is anyone interested going in too?
I Like Cackle.
They're nice, helpful, and the prices of their birds are great! (And shipping is only $15).
The babies are nice and healthy and grow fast.
They also gave me credits and THEN some for all the birds I lost (I lost 5 in my last shipment, and they are sending me 15 birds of my choice in less than 2 weeks, and all they charged me was $19.00.
They also are adding extra heating pads in there for the chicks. At no cost.
They are nice there. At least to me they were.

I've never ordered from Cackle... I've gotten meaties from Welp, MMH, and through Purely Poultry... I haven't lost a single one from MMH and Welp.
I know what Tori does with the chicks she hatches, but where do the rest of you put them? How big are your coops? Do you follow the min 4sq. ft. per bird rule?
I don't know how many or colors yet. I usually give the mothers a few days before I start messing with them.
I'm feeling a little better, I have to get caught up on chores now after I take another nap. I'm just whooped!
Aimee, you asked what we do with all our babies. Quite a few of mine go to folks who have asked for certain breeds and many are staying
here to increase our flocks. The last twelve Dellies went to their new home today, but we still have the fab 7 and the BCM's from a few weeks
ago who just went outside into a larger brooder that we have in the coop. This does two things, the big guys can get used to them being in there
and the little guys can get acclimated to the temperatures. They are 4 weeks old now and doing wonderful....They are protected from the elements and the larger
birds and still have a heat lamp.
I dont use the square foot method. I just look at their comfort level. In the winter I like to have more birds in each side so that they
can warm themselves but I keep an eye on them. If it looks over crowded to you then it probably is......
