Gardening ? What is the earliest you have planted the following.
Poatatos
Lettuce
Carrots
Rutabegas
Turnips

I did peas, lettuce and radishes last year around May 14th.

This year, I already put lettuce and spinach in tires, even though we still have lots of snow.
I also plan on doing pole beans in tires this year. Placing all of them where they will get all the crazy heat bouncing off the house throughout the day.
Putting a squash plant at their bases as well.

I don't plant anything til after the 15th, usually the last week in May. Even if the soil is workable its too cold, plants (and seeds) sulk, and most things planted later catch up quickly anyway. I used to plant earlier, but I don't see much advantage so I don't risk late frosts anymore! There is NO WAY a potato is going in this ground for a while!

I don't have too many extras but I have neighbors starting flocks or needing to replace old hens so I've got homes for spares. I am reducing my BCMs to 6 so the other 5 will be heading over today or tomorrow. The Norwegians I don't keep will be going around also. There are people here that really want to try them in their flocks. I will keep all the BLRWs but a rooster or 2 who also are spoken for.

The Eggs have Arrived!
MissDeb just came and picked up 11 to stick in an incubator.
We had 13 left, but as my luck goes, my 6 year old cracked one! Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Anyhow. There are 12 left. And I was told she is shipping me another 12 next week.
Anyone have room for 12 in a Bator?

They are ready to go!

Tori your babies are soooo big. I don't think I've ever had to prop up a chick so it's legs could get stong enough to hold up it's body. These guyds were so big they couldn't get off their backs and stand upright by themselves These are the only two hatched out of the 4 that made it to lockdown. They have moved into the brooder and are doing great. Thanks Tori.
Quail are having fun and feathering fast.
Glad to hear everyone is doing ok.

Looks like you got one of Pidge's babies... if a girl, she will likely lay very pale glacier blue eggs. Not 100% on that, but that's what mom lays. The other looks like it will be a blue wheaten.

Glad you're having fun with the babies!

Tori, here are pics of 2 Blue Lace Red Wyandottes. One ids 6 weeks old and the other is 4 1/2 weeks old. Do you have any idea what sex these are? I have no clue but the bigger one is very sweet and calm - which means nothing of course..
You are the Guru -

Lacey the oldest - this is her (his) idea of cooperating with a shoot.....
