I have 3 lavs I hatched (plus 2 splits) and this sure looks like a lavender to me. That said, I am told that splashes will occasionally look quite silver at hatch and it sometimes won't be apparent until feathering what you have.
Do you know anything about the parentage? Besides the color of the hen?

This is a X chick between my BLRW roo and blue splash Cochin hen. With both carrying the blue gene I thought the chick might be blue, but it is very light/silver, so I guess we will see!

Hmm... can't say for sure on the coloring until the chick feathers out. I am partial to chicks that color though. Usually in my brood it's a splash.

3 of Deb's chicks are out, 4th one is having trouble. Pipped, but there's a little blood so we're leaving her alone. I took the ducklings out because the eggs were getting knocked all over the place.

They will stay in there for a little while longer, because I have Orpington eggs from Christina that are due today. But I'll get pictures as soon as I am able.

Aimee, I think that if you don't have excessive moisture buildup in the hatcher, you're doing good. I hatched these babies at 60-65% humidity according to the 1502. I tried to calibrate my little hygrometer, and it's supposed to be reading 75% - I think it only got up to 50%. I think I'll be grabbing the remote wireless sensor from my weather station and see what it says.

Thanks Tori. My repti-therm hygometer still says 60% this morning. I KNOW it's not the 43-45% the Acu-rites are claiming. I'm not going to add any water until I see the repti-therm go down.
Out of all the eggs Deb gave me there was only one I was iffy about when I put it in the bator, and it was too dark to candle very well. I'm *pretty sure* it had movement, but I stared at it so long trying to see it could have just been my eyes crossing.

All the eggs from Wildwood farms are light shelled and I only removed one egg from her because it was clear.

My weather station says our ambient humidity is 92%... I just put the remote sensor in the bag to calibrate, and it's already reading 69% where after 24 hours my little therm/hygrom was only reading 60%. I'm pretty sure I've been drowning my chicks.

3 pips from Christina's Orpington eggs!!! I can't tell if the rest of Deb's eggs are moving because of the fan, or if they're trying to pip... we'll wait and see!!
