(shhh... girls?)

Oh... Deb... I forgot to answer your question. I still kept your eggs in the 1502, but I didn't add water and it stayed around 40%. Still a little high, probably but I use the 1502 for hatching, too. 65% for hatching. I have more eggs in the Hovabator that have minimal water ~ 25-30%... they're due soon, so I'll let you know how those go too. I noticed that my eggshells are super thick... you really have to smack them hard to get them to break. So the lower humidity might help with the weakening of the shell so they can get out.

No matter what happens, I am happy to have these babies.

Ash WOW! He sure is looking a whole lot better than he did. He's all upright now and looks like he has attitude! I'd say those girls are nekkid
from being plucked, it looks like it's right on the tail feathers? Were they over crowded in their old home?

Sad news on Splint. He's doing good but he has two strikes against him, one he's a roo (we think) and two, he looks to be a black Marans with no coppering.
I was certainly hoping it would be a pullet that just hadnt got her copper yet.

Roos do not pay attention to hens that are not laying. Once she starts up, he will give her more time then she may want

If it was a boy he would have copper on his wings as well at this point....Pretty girl!

Ash, he'll stay here for awhile. No culling yet. I'll put the word out before we do and send photos of everyone. Just remember, there is a reason we
pick the ones we do out of the flocks. You want to better the breed and it's hard to do when you breed with culls.
