Paula,

Let me know if that works for you. I refuse to ever raise someone else's meat birds after the mess we had last year. We
encountered MANY problems when it came to processing and paying for the birds, then some birds got sick or died from heart failure. That was just us
and another couple, I couldnt imagine having to deal with more folks.

This year we only ordered them and we required
they be picked up as soon as they get here.

We did it last year for others, with out any problems. Not saying it can't happen, but we will be screening carefully who we do it for.
We are picky about the birds having full outdoor access, and plenty of probiotics. Made a huge difference in the long run.

What did you charge last year?

We ended up splitting the feed bill between us and of course the price of the birds.. We didnt charge a set price for the birds. But I did all the work, cleaning, raising etc..Ours had full
outdoor access except at night because of predators. But during the day they had everything they could ever want, including free range. Some of them got Ascite (fluid filled bodies) which
killed some of them.

It's not worth it to me

Whatever works for you!

Oh, I getcha! They are "interesting" to raise.
I am refining our tractoring system this year, in part because I need ones I can move a bit more easily, but also because a new neightbor now owns an unruly pitbull

Yes Paula, please keep us updated on your adventure. I haven't had meat birds yet, but would like to this year, I've heard some of them are nasty critters. Now does the $20 include the cost of the feed?

Yes. Feed will cost about $10 per bird. We buy only from Budget Feed in Palmer.
Most farms that sell prepared meat birds, that are pastured and fed non GMO and soy free grains, charge about $25 per bird. We figured that $20 was fair.
We also plan on contracts as well.

I will be at food pickup day, at Wolf Lake Wellness in Palmer, advertising as well.
