I've shipped eggs to Tori twice. I don't recall how long they took, been awhile. Tori, do you remember?

Every time I shipped eggs to my friend, Ellie, in Redding CA, it took five stinkin' days! Even when she paid for express, it took three. So, we got wise and started having them shipped to her work address, which worked much better.

Aimee,

Thats about all I can think of doing. I would keep one little buddy in with him/her though just to keep its spirit up. I just don't understand why
the hatches as of lately haven't been that great. Do you guys think it might have something to do with my flock? Maybe they need their own vitamins?
They will be a year old the end of June, so they aren't that old......

They get fish, veggies and all leftovers of pasta and rice......

Cyn,

My eggs from Cree were shipped Monday and were here Weds. All of our stuff goes to the annex that won't fit in our roadside box.

But if we use the Houston Ak PO Box, it takes an extra day. You guys shipped them to Nenanna? It'll probably take another day or two like it
does for us when we use the PO Box.

You know, Pandora it might be best if you had them shipped to someone you know in Fairbanks? It sort of skips a step and that way you
know they are safe and in your hands....We had to figure out a way to skip the PO box just because it took that much more time for them
to deliver it to our town, it's just easier for us to go into Wasilla to get them ourselves.....

Okay I will put a buddy in with it. Wouldn't you know it'd be one of my BCM babies.
I have 29 of the others, and only 3 of these.
It sounds like your doing fine Deb, I swear it's the shell, they almost need a diamond tipped egg tooth to break out.

Cyn, I don't remember them taking extra long to get here... might have been 4 days, but that's typical for us.
I had eggs shipped from Louisiana and California on the same day... the eggs from LA arrived a day earlier than the ones from CA...

go figure.

I'm thinking of taking my marans off the layer feed and feeding them sprouted grains and such... see if that helps the shells. Aimee's right, they're just really thick. I pulled a couple from the incubator that weren't developing, and clinked them together... they sounded like porcelain.

Well, I took two Spitzhauben boys to the gal at the feed store - they were so cute I couldn't bop them - and in return came home with two RIR chicks (boys for my sexlink pen) and two BBBronze turkey poults. I

turkeys.

Help..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Eggs finally arrived. I opened the box and was in SHOCK.
Out of 15 eggs, 4 have cracked. I have 11 left, and each and EVERY single one was covered with Scrambled Egg!
I can't wash them obviously, so I did the best I could with a dry paper towel.

I called Annie, and this is what I just found out.
Apparently, Jennifer asked her husband to pack them since she had to leave town.
Unlike her "Overly Paranoid" packing habits, all HE did is wrap each egg in bubble wrap with each END open and stuck them into a box with plastic grocery bags to try to CUSHION them.
I am going to assume they were rattled pretty well thru the trip. And he didn't even write "FRAGILE" or "HATCHING EGGS - HANDLE WITH CARE" or anything on the box!

I don't know what to do!

I don't even know if they are worth incubating at this point.

I am SOOOO upset I am crying right now!
Seriously, sitting on the couch and bauling my eyes out.!!!

Come to think of it, when I opened up those last few who were already dead, it was like chipping away porcelain. They were pretty tough and once cracked they were
white and crusty (the shell itself)......

Maybe early spring next year I'll take them off layer feed and see if that helps things. I just find it really strange that I would have two great hatches while the snow
was still here and now that I want babies, nothing or very little. I know my Dellies don't have a problem....

Ash,

No worries! Will she send you more when she has a minute to pack them right? I would if it were me....It would have been my fault
so I would have sent you more no charge. Just wipe the ones that aren't messed up off and stick them in the bator, what do you have
to lose?

by the way, make sure they are GOOD and DRY before you place them in the incubator or you'll have a mess like I did this morning. They stick
to the turner if they arent dry.
