So, does anyone know of a way to get a couple of fertile turkey eggs that I could sneak under a broody.
Since I have Celiacs, I cannot eat any turkey that is commercially sold, because of the crap they inject them with at processing.
Turkey at Thanksgiving would be a dream come true for me!

I sure don't....unless my friend has some now, but they live in Chugiak. Im pretty sure the few
eggs they are getting go into their incubator. I had just happened upon two eggs while
I was there, and thought it would be cool to hatch out a turkey.. Tony at Triple D might have some chicks? If nothing else you can at least raise your own
chicks?
Maybe put an ad out looking for some hatching eggs?

I just checked Tony's list. The small ones that get to only 14 or so pounds......how long do they take to mature? Is it too late in the year to start?
If I do get a couple of those, I will stick them under a broody for a few weeks, so they learn to forage well.

hmmm, with the neighbors new and unruly pitbull, I think I will wait on turkeys.
I would rather lose less expensive chickens, if she were to ever get in here.
We were able to free range all our birds all last summer, but now we can't.
We are doubling our run size, and beefing up the meat bird tractors as a result.
Oh yeah, and they can't seem to understand why she is aggressive
