Baby is still hanging in there. Although barely.
I'm going to call it "Button", as I am getting tired of refering to it as "it". LOL
Anyhow. Button doesn't seem to be digesting what is in it's crop.
I'm trying, but I don't have high hopes. It seems to be SOOOOO tired, sleeping all the time, not moving. It'll pick it's head up from time to time, but not much other than that.
It seems to WANT to fight to live, and if it won't give up, neither will I.
I'm heading out to the feed store to get some vitamins.
I'll give it my best shot and hope for the best.

I have to admit that I have thought about having hubby Cull, just to put an end to Button's suffering. I feel SO bad for the little thing.

My back is KILLING me from sleeping on the floor. Ugggg.

Thank you. I took a look at Amy's Bator and I thought "Oh no no no. This thing needs Handles!"
When I got mine, first thing I did is get the handles on it.

I CAN'T take credit for the Tube though. That was ALL AMY.!!!

I made her a promise that when her Bator is done cooking, I am going to put handles on hers for her as well (I already bought them).

A bit of advice. In case anyone wants to do the Handles.
When putting the handles in, you have to be REALLY careful. Since it's thru styrofoam, if not done the right way, you end up demolishing it instead of puncturing it.
I started out with a large sewing needle, and worked it in slowly, rotating it while inserting. Then I used one of my small knitting needles and re-pierced the same hole, again working it in slowly.

Once the hole was made, I slowly screwed in the handle screws.

Worked like a charm.

Very nice. I wondered how you did it. You are both very clever and one wonders why their engineers haven't addressed (or apparently SEEN) these problems. I used my fingernails, fool that I am to open the lid!

Yeah, but these people do nto train this dog, and let her run amuck. Even on our property. They are encouraging bad behavior, to the point that I have to be careful when I am outside alone. They have another dog that is even worse.
A few weeks ago, I went out our back door and he jumped out at me, from the side of the deck where he was hiding.
Growling to beat the band! ANd then he squared off at my DH for telling him to go home!
Dh has warned them what the consequenses could be, but I don't think they really care!

Unfortunatly it sounds like something drastic will have to happen before those owners
learn their lesson. We have had quite a few like that in the area we are in. We just got to the
point that when someone new moves in around here we introduce ourselves and they get the "friendly" warning.

We don't ask questions anymore.....we have lost more birds and rabbits than I can count on two hands. It's not
happening anymore.

This sort of thins is so @*#$ depressing!

The whole Mat Su has leash laws but the worst offenders never obey them and their animals cause most of the trouble. And it's bloody hard to defend your birds against determined dogs. I worry about that more than hawks, and we are right in the flyway and next to the most prolific hawk rookery there is (Castle Mountain). My neighbors, so far, are the responsible type but we see a loose dog now and then. Mine aren't off the leash or dog run unless I am right with them, and not often that way. No dog is totally reliable under certain circumstances, heck most people aren't!
How is your little one Ashia? You are a very dedicated Momma. I hope she comes through for you.

OMG I know what you mean about the dogs.
Mine re completely reliable, in the way that they actually enjoy being around the chickens. Not even Rusty-Da-Roo bothers to go after them. He knows they would not hurt any of them.
My aussie especially. Every time a dog comes onto the property that is not ours, and the chickens are out and about, Zip goes after them and tears into them. And not in a nice way.
The other 2 dogs just make sure the fowl are staying in the yard.

I trust all 3 of them completely with the chickens, which is amazing, because my 12 year old dog is the motherly type who wants to nurse everything (seriously, every time we fostered pups or kittens she'd start lactating! Even with our pet rats! LOL) And the 1 year old Rott/Shepherd mix amazed me too. Completely different dog around the chickens. His herding / protective instincts kick in. And none of the chickens are afraid of any of them.

Baby is still the same. Gave vitamins. I will wait and see. I go down there every 30 minutes or so, so far Button is still with us. Barely....

I would love to see this neighbor dog try and mess with our cats. I have watched them run off the sweetest dog ever, because he dared walk by our place with his owners.
Don't mess with them
somad.gif

But these same two cats will snuggle with baby chicks, and if the older chickens would let them, would probably sleep with them at night! They are however, still a bit weirded out by them. They seem to still think the cats are just buttering them up!

What a picture! That's sweet.

My neighbor's golder retriever, when she was very young, killed one of his layers. She got in a lot of trouble over it.

She is a sweet dog, just didn't have a clue and is a year and a half now. A few days ago, he was working in the yard and didn't see her so assumed she had been called inside. Then he noticed a chicken walk out of her doghouse, then another then another, stretching like they had all been napping. Then the dog came out and stretched also, walked up to the door to be let inside. Apparently their differences have been resolved.

Paula,

I just find it so odd that we never heard of a missing persons report. If it had been my kid she would
be posted ALLOVER the place, including the internet. Do a search on her name and nothing comes up
but the ADN article......Very sad.

On a light hearted note, the night this information was released, Jim and I were sitting there watching the news. He looks
at me and says "I betcha it's someone Roger ( our mayor) buried, You know, when you have so many skeletons in the closet you just
gotta let a few out!".....OMG! I died laughing when I called him at
work to let him know he had been right. The body was found in the Mayors backyard of the house he's renting......

I'm sure it was just a coincidence, but funny none the less....

I totally get why you find this funny

PMing you with why she would not have been reported missing...

Dont get me wrong, I understand it's someone's daughter and mother, but the humor came before
there was an identity to the body found...I hope no one took that wrong! The humor came out of the irony....certainly not the situation.
