Yea the hubby has 18 years being a Prof FF and has been doing it since he was 16 on the Jr FF back home for him. Its amazing he hearts that any firefighter an even more so the people who so it for "free" as some people put it. I guess they dont understand the time, training, and effort that goes into being a Volunteer.
We have only done it a couple years and thank goodness only ONE real fire so far!!

Its the same way when introducing new birds around here as well, If new babies come in, they all go into their own brooder before going into the general population. My meat birds are on the other side of one acre
away from the general population.
I know some of you just toss new birds into the mix without a second thought about it, but it'll only take once when you lose your whole flock to one little sniffle or cough that
new bird or chick had.....I probably should be a little more careful with the chicks I hatch as well, they can still transmit disease, but I take a little risk there.

Deb I will keep that in mind now that it's been put in my head, as I said, that's the way I think about my dogs. Just need to get the same mentality with the chickies
I should be getting my replacement chicks in the mail tomorrow from Ideal
They were very nice about replacing the 5 I lost or asking if I wanted my money back.

I used to show horses and collies years ago,,,,Briefly... No more. I expect there are tighter controls now than there were then, but it was enough for me...
I'd just as soon raise my own birds or get them from people I trust.
