I'm actually not sure. We havent had this situation until now. She came to me half grown from out of state. I wished I had
been able to raise her, she might have a better out look on life. But she was a $250 rabbit by the time she was shipped up etc......
We tried to make it work, its been two years and no change. She'll probably be stew or get canned....I personally don't eat rabbit. But hubby does....

She is a stunning girl, but a lot of good that does you when you can't get near her. She even has two legs towards her championship (only needs one more)
but she's so nasty I don't dare have her bite a judge.

( like the General in Watership Down) I met her at a distance.

And I bet you were quite happy with that!! LOL

From a distance she is very pretty.... Deb told me about her, so from a distance she stayed!

Ack! That's a spendy bunny!! We eat rabbit too, but I was wondering if you'd have the pelt tanned, I'm sure as big as she is you could make a hat or mittens from her!

Too bad you can't muzzle a rabbit!!

Yea IBF, I think rabbits are a lot of fun if raised right. I handle all my babies from day one,
playing with their noses, feet, clipping toenails etc......So that they go home stable little guys. Some breeders
don't have the time or the resources to do that....I keep my rabbitry rather small so that I can afford to take the
time with them that they need.

They are just too big to be rotten....

Nope, we don't tan the rabbit pelts. They end up in the garbage most the time. It's too expensive to tan them and then
try to sell them for anything you have into them. Hubby doesn't even take the time when butchering to save the pelts, pull the head, it's just too
time consuming to be fleshing and stretching them so that they turn out nice.....We used to raise Flemish Crosses just for meat, but have resorted to just the
purebreds now since we have limited space.

We wont mention that he's highly allergic to the rabbits, so he gets it done and over with quickly....

Deb how long does it take them to reach full size? My hutch will be about 18" x 48" with an 18" x 18' enclosed hutch for now. I plan on a bigger one if he needs it. Will that be adequate for now?

Even the small ones are no fun if they're rotten!! I had a ...hmmm.... what's the name of the fuzzy bunnies with the long fur.... geez, can't remember! And he was a sweetie, but the other one we had was mean as heck!

Hmm, if they are nice thick furred rabbits, I bet I can hook you up with someone that might make it worth your time. Not me, I don't tan, I just sew. But I have a friend in Okanogan that has a tannery.
