ALBC Conservation Priority List - Pretty interesting

I think their lists are a good thing, but their numbers are grossly underestimated. Still though, I believe strongly in preserving genetic diversity by focusing on some of the rarer breeds and varieties. There are some varieties that have become almost completely unknown in the US.

THe ALBC polls their membership re what they are raising & from this data they assemble their "lists". If you are a member & don't respond or if you are not a member your flock doesn't exist to the ALBC.
There are some breeds & varieties on their lists that are legitimately in short supply. Most however exist in far greater numbers than indicated by the ALBC.

Yes they are located about ten miles from me, I went up and volenteered to contact the APA and ABA to expand their survey lists and they basically told me they didn't care to get the real numbers if they weren't ALBC members, screw them. I stuck around with them until I caught them using ALBC funds to lobby against the timber farmers in in NC state politics. when I asked what that had to do with conserving livestock breeds they basically told me that it was none of my business. BYE ALBC!

Wow... good to know... and from everything else I've been reading from everyone on here, their list's don't matter anyway. Not to mention everyone on BYC disagrees with them.
I just thought I found something worth saving... I guess not. Sounds like a bunch of crooks.
