Alerts

I understand what alerts are and How they function . I also know on the last sire we did not have to do that. We are not getting alerts sometimes until we go to a different thread 2-3 times and then the posts have been sitting there for half hr.

Your browser holds a whole bunch of information each time you visit a website or each particular web page. Some times yu need to clear that history indoor to receive new information.

Geez...I wish I could explain this in English...I just can't.
I promise I am trying to come up with a simple way of explaining it but it's not that simple.

Just hit refresh and you should see the alerts much faster.

AND clean your cache often.
This article is pretty simple and straight forward about why it is important to clear.

Kiki, Im sure you didnt mean to imply I didnt understand your statement. I do understand English quite well.
Clean my browsing history and cookies, Yes, I do that often.
I also have high speed internet.
No I dont have this problem on other sites .
We absolutely did not have to go through all this on the last site. In simple English That means the technology IS out there to fix this problem that not only I but many are having.
Please forgive me for not responding earlier. I didnt get an alert you had posted .

Not sure I am going to be any help, but I will try.

I do not have any issues getting alerts and not only does my Alert count advise me of how many, I get a pop up, bottom left hand side of screen, to advise that I have an alert.

I do not think this happens while I am in the actual thread the alert is related to. I would have to test that because I do not ‘linger’ in threads for a long period of time.

I have, however, noticed that I am alerted that there are new posts in a watched thread I am reading.

Alerts happen for me automatically after a number of minutes or I can get them by refresh.

Granny, it might help troubleshooting if you can advise what browser you are using?

I am using Chrome on a Windows 7 machine.

These three came in while I was typing this draft without me actually doing anything:
