Alerts

Just a bit more on this one. It appears to be working fine for me which leads me to believe it may be an issue with others browser, settings, refresh rate or operating system.

As mentioned previously, I am running Windows 7 and using Chrome.

So, I was just 'reading' 'Alerts' [watched thread], no post drafting and got this alert related to the thread while the thread was open. I did not refresh or do anything, was just reading:

Alerts.jpg

Then, while I was drafting a post in this thread, got this alert related to the thread:

Alerts 1.jpg

and then this one:

Alerts 2.jpg

and this one:

Alerts 3.jpg

So it appears to be refreshing quite quickly and alerting to new posts within the thread when viewing and when drafting a post.

I agree that you should not need to and as per the above, I do not need to.

Sadly, I am not sure why it is not working for some but believe that it may not be related to the site but possibly to user settings. I am sorry to say that I do not know what setting may be at fault though :(
This is what I have been trying to say too.

eta..the user settings/each persons device.
Computers/phones/tablets get old really fast.
And since technology changes at such a high rate said device that worked wonderful last year may not work as well this year.

Rod, and thats what Im saying, We shouldnt need to do that.

Yes, I do admit that it should be doing it on its own. But as long as it works for me right now, I'm good :) I'm not on BYC all day, some days I'm not even on; so taking just one more step to see my alerts doesn't bother me :)

But you guys can look into it further if you want :D

I don't have any problems at all, getting alerts....infact, it's a little annoying. As Telia said, I also get the pop up at the bottom of my screen. Sometimes their coming in so fast, it's a distraction. 7 while drafting this post.
