All dead this morning.

I'm so sorry for what happened

I know if that happened at our house my brother would be out there with night vision goggles and a gun with a scope on it waiting on the dogs. I hope the new chicks cheer you up, they usually do

So sorry to hear about your loss. That is a really terrible thing that happened. So shocking. Thank goodness the kids were not there. I really feel for you.

I lost all 12 of my 6-week old pullets last Monday. It was only their 2nd day out of the house. Not eaten, just killed for the sport of it. All week I was so sad. I finally had a really good cry in the coop on Saturday.

I learned the hard way that chicken wire does not keep dogs out. I reinforcing all the walls of the chicken yard with field fence, welding wire, rock, etc., and it is now dog proof. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury to free range.

I got 7 new chickens this weekend. 4-month Araucana (Agnes); 3-month Silver Wyandotte (Silver); 3-month Barred Rock (Lacy); 5-week RI Red (Chirps); 5-week Lt. Brahma (Chirpy); 3-week Buff Orpington and 3-week Black Australorp (Cross). Can you tell the grandkids named most of them???

It's not the same as my babies - but with time and handling them everyday it will be good again.

God bless.

I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of your chicks and ducks, that is terrible. Be ready for them they will be back.I am glad the kids didn't witness this tragedy. Good luck with the new chicks.

A .22 will be bought this week. My neighbor across the way said that he also is armed, and will keep an eye out while i'm at work. If they come back, hopefully we can shoot them. I hate to say that, but it's an only choice at this point. We'll also be extending the run on labor day, and keeping everyone fenced at all times. I hate to do it, but I never want to have to bury 18 animals again.
Ghandi made it through the night. He's drinking, not eating, and not moving. I"m going to take him out of the carrier for a bit this evening. Once he's up and around i'll move him to a large dog crate I have until he's fully healed. I think he's still in shock, and i'm just trying to leave him alone. I can't stitch the wound, so all I can do is wait and hope that he recovers.
