Oh, she actually looks like Poppy! I thought you were talking about Maggie...

I just noticed Daffy, their sister... she was standing very still by the wall with her eyes closed... she didn’t seem right so I got a closer look and she has blood on her face and beak🤷🏼‍♀️... have no idea what could have happened! Maggie was pecking at the blood... not too harshly.. it was more like trying to clean it... well, I didn’t want to leave her with everyone in case some do start to viciously peck! Now, Daffy is probably my MOST flighty gal so catching I knew would not work! I did try to catch her a couple times but then just decided to try to steer her into the brooder section in the run... at least there she would not get pecked. I hate trying to catch her while she feels ill.. poor thing.. having to run around probably makes her feel worse!

I almost thought Hylia was going to be frizzled, but her feathers really smoothed out as she got older....
That is so funny! Cuz I thought the same about Cutie! When she was a baby they were curled out! And she was my white Cochin too! I mean, look at those sticky out feathers!

Well, I definitely noticed how bright orange the yolks were💕❤️
What ever happened with mother duck and babies... did they just move along?
I think so. I think I spotted them in the undergrowth once but it is hard to be sure. I hope they survived. It seems against the odds for those little ducklings to survive, but I guess at least some ducklings must have been surviving for millions of years so I will just assume the best.

I hope Daffy is OK. FWIW one of my earliest posts on BYC was asking for help with my Maggie who had blood dripping from her wattles. Not just a little but a pool forming at her feet.
I think wattles are like human scalps, in that they bleed a lot. She had I think just scratched herself and it was all OK the next day. Hope Daffy is all OK tomorrow.

Yea.. where we used to live... in a neighborhood which had a community pond.. there were lots of ducks and you’d see a mom with like ten babies... then the next time you’d see them there were maybe seven.. and so on till they were all gone! 😞 So every now and then we’d go out there and steal some babies...I know that sounds horrible but at least they had a chance at life! Here are some... I wish I could find pics of our first batch... they never wanted to leave 😄
And girl... I was just winging it! We didn’t have computer access for info! None of the babies we got ever had a heat lamp.. even the baby chicks we found at the park never used one... and those chickens lived in my backyard without any protection from predators they slept in an open area for roosting that my husband built! And as @BY Bob always likes to say... “You live in the swamp!”.... well, that was actually in the swamp! We had more critters than anywhere else! It’s a wonder they all survived! Here are some...

Thank you!
She doesn’t have wattles... she’s an EE.. but I’m sure you’re right about the rest of the face too though... the only thing is that she is acting so sickly... now that she is in the brooder section she is just laying down... unless it’s a coincidence... but that seems weird as I’ve never seen any with a bleed before... 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh dear. I hope she is OK.
:hugs
You just told me something I didn't know, that EE don't have wattles.
