So I think I have an egg eater now

That is a hard habit to break.
One solution is a roll away egg nesting contraption. Also called rollaway nest boxes. You need to train your hens to use them.
The eggs roll away after being layed into a compartment inaccessible to chicken pecking, and eating egg.

I guess we could try to build something like this… but the existing nests cannot be converted…

So I moved the babies into the big coop… after a couple days in here I will open it up to the bottom section and they will be able to run up and down between the two sections by using the little ramps… hopefully they figure it out quickly!
And that is not a heat lamp.. it’s just there for lighting purposes cuz it’s pretty dark in there…

Thank you! This coop and the other side (I divided it into two separate coops) needs serious maintenance but instead of taking care of that I built a whole new coop… it’s a few pages back if you want to see… it’s really cute! But we really need to tend to this one…
