All my sweet birds are gone. What to do?

If they are killing or going after your livestock I would shoot them. Their owners don’t care and they are dangerous. That could very well happen to a small child next. I have dogs and I love my dogs. I’m not going to say they’ve never gotten out but I’ve done everything in my power to get them to come back and to keep them contained. That is my responsibility as a dog owner. We had a neighbors dog killing our chickens once but my husband did take photos of the dog with my chicken in its mouth. Animal control told us to shoot it if it did it again. We asked animal control to talk to the owners because it was just one and not a pack and we didn’t want to shoot anyone’s animals. They did try to keep it contained but the next time it got out it killed a rooster right in front of us as we were about to leave the house. My husband went over and confronted the neighbor and told him he would shoot the dog the next time it was on our property. The neighbor actually said oh, would you? That would really help me out, man. This dog is a big problem. some people really shouldn’t have animals.

Personally I've seen pack frenzied mentality in dogs blow right through a fence, like they don't even feel it.
It's a real thing, like I mentioned before. I have had to deal with a pack that was wandering around an area of this island where my friends live. The pack got in their coop right through the side of the poultry wire like it was a sheet of paper and killed all their chickens. Same pack got to someone's deer farm and killed a few deer, then went onto someone's game bird yard and killed 40 cocks. If they get neglected by humans enough and find some friends, they go right back to being wild animals.

Oh my this is SO HELPFUL. I'll be making sure I get this on paper and keeping the shotgun loaded.

Thank you thank you thank you

This morning I woke up to a pack of big husky looking mixes and pitbulls chasing my horses. I ran outside to see that they had already torn the entire side off of my chicken coop that we had thought we built so securely (my fiance is a builder by profession). All of my ladies, my ducklings, and my sweet rooster were dead. I asked around and found out who the dogs belonged to and paid them a visit. Sure enough the dogs were all loose in their yard with blood & feathers visible on the Huskies. The owners were young boys in their 20s and did not seem to care AT ALL. Not an "I'm sorry". NOTHING. I asked if the dogs could be kept on a chain or indoors and explained that my neighbors and family have very small children and the dogs seemed dangerous. The owners just walked inside.

I called animal control and the police and both came. They, too, did not seem to care. They said the blood & feathers werent really evidence and that I needed photos of the dogs attacking. We borrowed some trail cams and put them up in case they come back.

I'm at a loss. This pack of dogs is terrorizing the neighborhood. I warned all the neighbors not to let the small kids get off the bus alone. And I miss my little birds so much. I want to rebuild but how the hell does a dog rip the side off a shed?

Anyway I'm just venting. It's been a terrible day and I'm out of tears.
I am so sorry for your loss, I feel for ya. I lost two beloved baby chicks today and can't stop the tears. Lots of hugs.:hugs

The way they were acting was scary. Like wild animals. Its not fair that I have to be afraid to walk outside to feed my livestock.

Hopefully I can harass the authorities into taking them away. If they come back we will shoot them. We have photos of all their handiwork and a police report.

Two things Grandpa always stuck by when dogs would chase his horses (after giving as fair a warning as you have): Don't let them go home with buckshot in their butts, finish the job. And when the job is finished, you've never seen them before and don't know where they might be.

Are you sure they're husky mixes and not wolf mixes? Because the kind of people who'd let dangerous dogs run loose also sounds like the kind of people who'd think a wolf mix was cool. If they're wolf mixes, they might not be legal to have.

And I'd second the bit about finishing them off. For one thing, I doubt their owners are responsible enough to take them to a vet. Dangerous animals or not, they deserve a quick death, it's not their fault their instincts make them act like that.

I'd give the neighbors one warning. Tell them if their dogs go after your livestock, you'll shoot the dogs. Let them know it's legal. Maybe don't do it in person, I don't know if these people are safe for you to be around when they get angry.

They look like Huskies in body but a darker greyish color so some kind of mix or just badly bred ones. I doubt they would have the funds to buy an actual wolf mix which I think are pretty rare.

That is so horrible!
Honestly, if the owner’s dogs come back, I’d be out with a shotgun and shoot them and not have a care for whatever anybody says about it. I have a 6 ft chain link fence around my chicken yard. This is such a horrible thing that the owners didn’t even care about all the chickens! You could go up to them and pay them a visit with a gun in hand. I wouldn’t use the gun for any reason other than intimidation.
Hope you get your birds back! I’d get a lawyer.

I never thought of electric fence. That's a definite purchase when we begin to fix everything. It is inside of a fence that had boards buried a few inches and there's a dog sized hole dug underneath it. I've never seen domestic pets with the manic pack mentality these ones do. It just gets me so heated. The horses are going to be locked up in the barn because there really isn't a way to put electric fence around their pasture it's probably 30 acres of property. The cops out here are useless. He told me all they can do is request the dog be kept up.
If theres enough dogs, 3 or four, they will tend to get a pack mentality. It's usually ok if the owner inserts themselves as alpha since the others will follow the alpha, but it can be tdoublesome if they cant or dont choose to.. Dogs can still dig under an electric fence if their determined enough, so I think that it might be a good idea to bury good strong fence one or two feet down around your run/coop as an extra proventative as well.
