All Natural Herbal Remedies and Recipes for Chickens

Ok! I do have a question. If you are using the fresh herbs, when you go to measure them, do you chop them? Or do you use a mortor and pestal and "crush" them? If so, does it change the measurement when you crush them as to chopping them?

You can chop them that is what I do because it is easier to measure. The measurement does not change.

Thank you!

I thought I would suggest a very important tool every natural chicken keeper should keep in the first aid box. Lavender essential oil,, the true stuff, it is antibacterial, antibiotic, reduces pain and swelling and bleeding. It is your over all go to for injuries. I use it on my kids boo-boos and of course my own.It is gentle enough to use it on an infant with out cutting it with a carrier.

I also use Lavender to calm myself and my son. We both have issues of panic attacks and this works wonders! If either of us feel an attack coming on, we boil the leaves or we have a spray that has lavender and vanilla that we will spray. I havent used the oils. Would this be easier? And how do you use it? Just rub it straight on? Also lavender tea!

Flour works also! I saved one of my puppies that had gotten ripped up by a stray dog with this method. I powdered the spot up real well with the flour and coated it with vasoline and wrapped it tight to stop the bleeding.
