I’m a new chicken mama. I have have spent dozens upon a dozens of hours studying. I have three Rhode Island reds. They were maybe 7 months when I got them at Easter. Lettie the larger lighter colored one, Mac with a short comb and big attitude seems like lowest in pecking order, and Cupcake dark on the outside sweet on the inside doesn’t give me any issues.

They have solid coop with roosts, pine shaving bedding scooped daily, a 6 x 10 reasonably secure run with some straw, and thanks to pandemic many hours of free range in backyard lots of weed and grass.

Here come the issues and context.
1. Mac has always ALWAYS dirty nose. I wipe it all the time, she eats and poops normal as far as I can tell.
2. There are occasional sneezes, I don’t see any swelling.
3. Lettie has a dirty bum and seems to have tummy troubles.
4. We didn’t get our first egg until Cinco de Mayo, looked pretty small and since then 5 more A few still quite small.
5. They get layer feed, oyster shells meal worms treats, scratch treats.
6. Lots of water with a little apple cider vinegar.
7. DE under bedding, mixed into dirt in run under straw.
8. A little DE and garlic Powder mixed into feed.
9. When tummy troubles began, I gave them a little yogurt treat once a day, maybe a Couple tablespoons.
10. Today Lettie seemed less active more apt to plopping down for a rest and just taking a nap, but still eating and drinking.
11. I have some probiotic, vitamin, electrolyte booster to put in their water tomorrow.
12. Looks like we had a bad egg passed this evening. I’m guessing by Lettie because she seemed much perkier when I let them graze in the evening after finding the bad egg. Pic Attached.

Thoughts on what is going on with my ladies and what I can do to help them live their best chicken lives.

Folks on my local poultry forum think it is a respiratory Infection and a trip to the vet is in order to get treatment for the flock, I will try and arrange that first thing tomorrow, they are all buttoned up for the night.
