Oh I've done that at night right by the nesting boxes since I have outside access to the nesting boxes. This is our coop:

So its odd trying to get in it!? Anyways... I need to bring them into our upstairs bathroom during the day with no windows, and I set them in a tube I have on top of a flash light to get them to stay still long enough to photograph them. CRAZY.... but it gets for some very detailed shots.

I gotta find the link to the video I have on youtube.com of the duck eggs I did. You can see everything perfectly!

yea a hatch buddy. i have a broody silkie due the on the fourth. its her first batch of eggs. no silkie eggs though, her two sisters went broody a week before. so i let her set on some mutt eggs because she was trying to help the other two with setting. she wood steal the nest when they went to eat. all first timers setting.

I was going to do it already, but I had some errands to run so I want to try to do it later after a little nap.

there dark brown eggs. i probaly wont have much luck seeing anything.

Bigdawg, I would try to candle them with a mag light!

Though its probably no guarentee, its still fun if you think you see something. *giggle*

Ok I got some pictures.

I'm about to edit them and pic out the easiest to see.

I have 10 that are 'probably' good, 1 that had no yolk (sorry natalie that tiny one was a dud

), and 1 that was scrambled. So that is REALLY REALLY awesome for shipped eggs. It even looks like ALL the silkie eggs are developing, so I'm dying to see a few lavender pop out.

Hooray candling pictures!!!

One of the silkie eggs so far, its hard to see, but it is getting dark in there.

This is the green EE mix egg, can't see a thing, so we'll call it a maybe!

Another silkie egg, there is a dirty spot, so its extra dark, but its developing!

man those silkies rock!!! I was so hoping that little white fart egg I sent had something in it-did you open it???

I always clean my eggs before shipping with a very dry towel but some of them had a smudge left:-9 sorry

okay so today was day 4 at 4pm-but...I had to candle because of all the temp spikes-wanted to see if any blood rings started well....drum roll please....

3-olive eggs too dark to see into but I think I see veins!!!!
12-EE ( blue and green) 1 cracked ( good thing I checked it went from top to bottom) thrown away-I cracked it open and nothing-
11 are veiny!!!!!
3 silkie-2 I can see veins 1 is iffy only because it is a day later than the others

1-mystery egg big dark rosy colored-lots of veining and I saw the heart beating I can tell that going to be a big chick-its growing very fast and taking up alot of space already!!

5 polish-all 5 are veining!!!!

2 ? now I m unsure of what they are now!! They either are silkies ( which I doubt) or my bantam cochin eggs
both veining-

out of 26 eggs only 1 was bad!!!!!!! 25 veiners growing baby chicks!! I cant believe it-I mean I was hoping to do this well with my eggs and I knew they were fertile from all the awesome feedback from my buyers but This is great for me-I just pray they continue to keep going-Ill candle on day 10 now and forget the xmas candeling since I just did it!!! yeah....How is everyone elses? Has anyone candeled as early as me? I usually never do until day 6 or later but the temp spikes have scared me...

So far that is a GREAT #! I really hope that when you candle again there is no change.

I am hoping to candle again on Monday.
