all swine all the time...

I work in healthcare and we have been offered the seasonal flu vaccine already - I get the vaccine every year.

The H1N1 (swine) flu basically is just another strain of the flu but it is affecting people a little differently than the seasonal flu. It is causing some severe disease in young adults and kids - mostly in people with some other health problems.
I was waiting to see how the trials went before I would decide if I would get myself and my family the H1N1 vaccine. The preliminary results appear safe and effective.
I decided I will get the vaccine and will have my teenager get it. I probably will get it for my 3 yr old also. I will encourage DH to get it as well.

For those of you with young children...........

consider getting the nasal vaccine(Flumist) for seasonal flu for young kids over 2 yrs old. It is much less traumatic and actually gives a slightly better immune response. Ask for it because even if it's available the health clinic may not mention it.

I am doubting the nasal vaccine will be available for the H1N1 strain. Hopefully it will only be one shot for the little ones.

If you did want to purchase pork, right now would be the time. The price has fallen through the floor with all of this misconception about the flu. It's a good time to stock up on bacon.

My freezer's already full, tamales anyone?

yeah, i have my laptop and tv in my bedroom. The wife has slept on the couch to avoid my ick

Then again i have a whole bed to myself with lots of fluffy pillows.

My luck she'll burn it all once I'm better

Mine felt like the regular flu except today I've started with coughing, snotting up and sinus headaches. Other than that................
Once the fever breaks I'll be outside playing in our 70 degree heatwave

I just today got a letter from my son's school saying that there is one confirmed case of H1N1 at the high school. My son is in the elementary school, but they all ride the same buses.
I am still debating on getting the regular flu vaccine for my son, I don't know about this one too! I am allergic to eggs, so there's no choice for me. But I don't think I've ever had any type of flu, so I'm not worried.

Can't be that bad if Boyd hasn't lost his craving for bacon.

It's a shame people are so reactive as to damage the pork industry over this without even doing any research first. Or to completely freak out because the word "children" gets involved in some way, in this case a slightly higher chance of being contracted by younger people, mostly with other health issues as mentioned above.

OK I'm off to order some hogs.

I worry for my 4 year old as that is the age I think could be adveresly affected with this flu. But after I read about the Ill effects of 1976 I will refrain from the vac. myself. If the gov endorses it I have no faith in it.
