It's everyone's choice whether or not they receive the flu vaccine but before we go and compare this pandemic to the 1976 one that never happened let's look at some facts.
The 1976 "swine" flu was only detected from January 19th to February 9th and did not spread beyond Fort Dix.
The 2009 H1N1(swine) flu has infected an estimated 1 million people in the US alone. There were almost 10000 hospitalizations and nearly 600 deaths(in the US). This flu has spread around the world. The southern hemisphere has reported the majority of the flu there is of the H1N1 variety.
Activity is now picking up again in the US(H1N1).
No, this is not the "killer" flu but it is not an imaginary threat either.
I think we all need to carefully weigh the risks and benefits of getting the vaccine or getting the flu. And keeping in mind that vaccinating yourself is not just protecting you but also those around you.
And just for the record....you can't get the flu from eating pork. My pork-eating habits(small as they were) are still the same.
