All the Christian Homeschoolers!

Ok, hi everyone! I am MGG. But you can call me Gee, Miggie, or anything else you can come up with. My username is my initials, and I kind of hung myself with it in regards to nicknames. The options are quite limited. 😅

I have always been homeschooled, along with my three younger siblings. There have been a lot of ups and downs along the way, including unplanned for breaks, curriculum changes, trips, etc. but I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. Our family is so close and strong because of it. My mom homeschools us and organizes my dad's business, and my dad works from home. So we're around each other every day all day. It can be difficult at times, though I think it's 100% worth it.

My favorite subjects are Biology/Science and History related studies, my least favorite is definitely math of any kind. Though I am doing a record keeping course at the moment, and I did a finance course last year. I actually liked both of those. I've always been pretty good at math but I just don't like it, lol.
I don't think I am going to be attending college, but I have taken a handful of college classes. I'm still deciding what I want to ultimately do, but if God sends me the right person, I think I want to get married, have children, and homeschool them too. I'm hoping I could still maybe do record keeping or something on the side to bring in some money if need be, as well as keeping birds (who could ever be without them long?) and drawing/painting.
Until then I considered working at a zoo for a while, or maybe even interning at an aviary in Louisiana. I'm just not really sure yet.

My hobbies are : raising ornamental waterfowl, geese, pheasants, quail, chickens, guinea fowl, pigeons, and chukars, raising and training Labrador retrievers, painting and drawing, photographing, building various things for my birds with my dad, experimenting and coming up with my own science projects, gardening and house plants, hunting, fishing, reading, incubating and hatching lots and lots of eggs, playing baseball/softball in the summer, and researching pretty much all of my above interests.
I really enjoy drawing and painting, and have even sold a number of my pieces. That's helped a lot with funding my hobbies. I also adore horses, but have never been able to own one. I took some lessons for a while, but they were expensive and not very good. The instructor was not very knowledgeable at all. I was mostly doing it just to be around horses. I've always loved reading anything horsey, it helped satisfy my obsession. My favorite horse books growing up were The Saddle Club series, the Thoroughbred series, National Velvet, and my Horse Encyclopedia. There was a time where I knew that book inside and out. I haven't given up on my love of horses and I will have one or two someday. I've dreamt of doing jumping, three day eventing, or cross country for a long time, but I live in cowboy country and no one around here knows anything but western. I like western, but I just think English riding is so much prettier and classier.

We live in a very very tiny town, but have two decent-ish sized lots, filled with mostly animals. There aren't really any regulations on what we can or can't have, so we pretty much have it all.

I love taking pictures, so here are some of my favorites.

All of our animals include : 3 yellow labs, 2 lionhead rabbits, all of my 90-ish ducks, 20 chickens, 12 pigeons, 10 quail, 8 pheasants, 2 guinea fowl, 11 geese, 2 chukars, a handful of fish, a few lizards and two salamanders, and a goat.

So anyway, that's me!

Oh my goodness, that drawing is beautiful, you have amazing talent! I had to pause for a second to convince myself it wasn't a picture.
That sunset landscape photograph is so beautiful, too.
You have a dream of a farm, I hope to have something like that someday with my own family.

Nope, but I play mandolin and piano!
Cool!
I play the Ocarina! Not much luck with other instruments, too complicated for me. :p
Cool!

Calling all Christian Homeschoolers! Whether you're still in schooling or are well graduated, all ages of homeschoolers are welcome! I know there's a good many hiding out on here and I'd love for us to have our own little community.

I have been homeschooled for my entire life. Some of my worst suffering is to be found with all the math curriculums I didn't complete, and all the good stuff was during recess. :D I'm rounding out my last year of homeschooling with some good, old fashioned home ec. Cooking, gardening, animal husbandry, all the good stuff, and some financial knowledge. You know, all the great stuff a young lady needs to be that Proverbs 31 gal.

So, tell me about yourselves!
I have been homeschooling my grandson for the past 3-years. We are a member of the Christian Homeschooling Association of South Carolina (CHASC). Excellent group. They have very good webinar series such as God Centered History, for my grandson this year - who is a senior graduating on May 15, God Centered college choices, etc... He is going to the local technical college in August into the welding program. Like you, this year he is learning about how to raise chickens, how to garden, and how to build a shed from scratch.
