Yeah, it's kind of a dramatic thing girls do. I occasionally use it when texting just to get my point across. The Girl Language in Emojis.

It seems a little overused.

I think it’s just because depending what sentence you put it in it mean different things. If someone’s actually upset they don’t usually use it since it looks dramatic, though.
