All things Turkey poults

All things in moderation hey R2elk?
You'd have to feed a ridiculous amount of cricket powder to get even close to 40% protein as whole diet percentage. They eat so much grass I reckon I it would even out.
Always good to get extra info/perspective though. Appreciate your thoughts!

I'm needing some suggestion on getting the little mites eating.. I've watched a million YouTube videos, and copied them. And even tried using a hen to show them. They are still a bit wobbly. They do the odd peck here and there.. but I'm sure it's not enough.

Oh.. we have 3 poults so far. Number 3 pipped the wrong end, with some TLC its a-ok.

It can be tough to get just a few poults eating and drinking well. Many people use a chick tutor to get the poults eating and drinking. Others use various methods such as using their finger to tap the feed and getting the poults to imitate them.

I have not had any issues getting them to start eating and drinking when starting large batches of poults at the same time. I use sand as bedding in the brooder and sprinkle their feed on the sand. It is their natural curiosity that gets them pecking and those specks on the sand. It usually takes a few days before they start actively feeding from the feeder.

For drinking, I dip each poults beak in the water when I introduce it to the brooder. By the time I take them out of the hatcher they are usually thirsty enough that it only takes the one time to get them drinking.

Here is Porter's method for starting poults. Tips on starting your poults

Thanks R2elk :frow

The first hatched is eating. I have syringed them all a drop of sugar water today & yesterday. Hopefully we are almost there!

Looks like we get 4 babies from this lot (sadly 4 have gone to heaven, I pipped the shells and they were dead inside. Very thick shells, I suspect they needed help and I was too slow :hit bit sad about that).
I have some others from a different source due next weekend, these shells are much thinner :fl

I'll take pic of them

Here are 2 of our older poults.. checking on the veggies

Somehow I ended up with 15 hens that should be laying this upcoming spring..... ugh either we will hatch lots of babies or est lots of eggs. Lol

Yeah one of my co-workers gave me 9 to go with my 6 ... he decided to get out of poultry. I am toying with the idea of offering poults for sale this spring
