So after looking thru many posts about RIR's (Rhode Island Red) , NH's (New Hampshire) , and PR's (Production Reds) it has me wondering what I have. I have been assuming they are RIR's since they were packing peanuts. But are they? Or could they be PR's? I doubt their NH's since they are so dark. Also I've been looking at google images and such, with these guys being from a hatchery will their tail be big when they are full grown or no?

First two pics are of the same chicken

These two are others that I have, there is 5 of them all together but only one is all brown (the one at the top in this last pic) all the rest have the dark green tail feathers coming in.

It's a fine line between what some hatcheries call production red and what they just flat out sell as RIR. But, true to color/shape/conformation RIR? Those really only come from breeders. Pretty much the same reality for all of the breeds.

I've literally had a thousand hatchery chicks in my life and a breed judge would have booted 99.9% in a glance. Just the way it is.
Again, just a disclaimer. I love hatchery chicks. They serve a genuine purpose.

Thanks, So then it would be safe to call them Production Reds then. Good to know.
