One of my chickens went weird tonight after eating a little bit of fig.
She sat shaking a little and closing her eyes for about 45 minutes. Her comb developed a purple hue at the top.
An hour later, she seems absolutely fine.
Does anybody know a) If this purple hue on the comb is significant? and b) If chooks are, or can be, allergic to figs? It was a semi-ripe fig, and I read somewhere that humans are sometimes allergic to figs that aren't fully ripe.
Could this be true of hens, too?
