Am I a bad momma??

Oh dear! No I don't worm them. I guess that's something I should do on a regular basis??
That is a matter of personal choice and management. Some worm on a regular basis, whether worms are present or not, some feel that it's not necessary of worms are not present. (As in, why use more chemicals and treat unnecessarily?) I think a lot depends on how your chickens are kept. I'm not an expert, but I wonder if chickens that are penned are more susceptible to worms and parasites?

Not everyone worms their birds, and not everyone worms their birds preventatively. And those that do, don't always go the commercial wormer route. Without a fecal float done by a vet or some other trained professional, you can never really know if indeed your bird has worms or what type. And most commercial wormers only target one type of worm. I'd recommend doing your own research and making your own decisions based on what is best for you and your flock.

Old red, a red star chicken, laid an egg for me nearly every other day all through the dark days of winter. And an egg nearly every day in the long days of summer. I noticed a week ago, I was short her egg. This morning she was dead under the roost, she must have died in her sleep. She would have been 4 this spring. I gave her a good life, she gave me lots of eggs.

Now I can hatch chicks, circle of life.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I always learn something new when I come here. As it turns out, all my ladies are fine. Guess she was just having an "off" day. Even gave them some free range time today as the snow is almost gone.

Thanks again!!!
