Am I a Blue Americana?

While the hatcheries routinely misadvertise their EE's as Ameraucanas (or in some cases "Americanas"), it is rare to see an EE (or anything else for that matter) sold as an Araucana.

Unfortunately, many hatcheries and therefore feed stores used to sell them as araucanas; it seems to be only recently that they have started calling them americanas. I wish they would just say Easter Egger. I have a neighbor who had EEs for years. She calls them araucanas because that is what the hatcheries called them. She does know the difference, and occassionally comes over to see my "real" araucana.

Half of every clutch of Araucanas come out tuftless and a good number of birds are born with tails, and these are pure blooded araucanas which are still used as breeders.

Furthermore, Tufting and rumplessness are both dominant traits which means that its not uncommon to get a tufted rumpy in a cross, meaning there are plenty of tufted rumpless EEs out there

While that is true, beards and muffs on Araucanas are not accepted. There is also the pea comb that Araucanas have that SEVERAL EEs lack.

It is HIGHLY doubtful that an EE would be rumpless, lack beard and muffs, be a recognized color and have a pea comb.

I am referring to birds straight from the hatchery...not what someone has been breeding for their own purposes in their back yard.
