No, you are not the only one! My husband and I have an afternoon "date" everyday on the deck watching out for our chickens and enjoying each other's company. No matter how busy, no matter what else is going on, we stop everything, let the girls out of their run to free range, and meet each other on the deck. Yes, the shotgun is ever present! Have taken out a few coons and possums, but biggest threat is neighbors dogs. It's nice knowing they can be out playing and still be safe. It's also nice after 20 years of marriage, we both look forward to that deck time.

Same here. It's what we do now. It's much better than the apartment life we had.

Yes, I think you're crazy, ... for using too small a caliber! Upgrade that upper to 223/556 as that 22 is just going to wound coyotes.

I usually have 50 rounds at the ready. Cuz we do have coyotes.

I've used both .22 rifle and 12gauge for predator elimination. And a muzzle loader and my .308 deer rifle for coyotes. Its pretty much whatever is easiest to access in the heat of the moment lol.
Now @Noobihen when you say AR-22 I think you are referring to a .22 rimfire in the AR platform? Just wanted to clarify that beings some of mentioned it as the -15. Which is a .22 caliber also and not a high powered rifle anyway but definitely not the little rimfire.
And no I do not sit out and keep watch, don't have time for that. I mostly just say a prayer for the birds to be safe, been working pretty good so far
