Am I being cheap or frugal?

I know what I'm packing for all my trips now... Awesome!

frugal and smart.
I am the person who brings the fridge and half the freezer with me,
I can not tolerate someone else preparing my food.

If I cant see inside the kitchen I wont eat there, including friends homes. yes its embarassing to them and to me, btu I had gotten food poisoning too many times to trust others.

FRUGAL, and good for you. Great college, I live about 50+ miles from St. Louis, east.

Did dear old mama offer to give you a little cash to help out with your cheap plans? Don't think so . . .bless her heart, she means well, but your son will treasure your visit and the home cooked food!!! Have fun, and love that boy!!!

I think it is so wonderful for you to cook some homemade meal for your son and you sure can be frugal at the same time! And save alot of money on the hotel rooms when you do not have kitchenettes. A simple dorm refigerator or bring your own cooler for leftovers.

Great job Mom!

when we go on roadtrips we always pack snacks and food for sandwiches. ice chest and drinks.. it is so much easier and cheaper that way.. i can't see paying for a meal when it is so easy for you to do it and you know it will taste good..i mean how many times can you eat fast food?

what a wonderful idea! I have so many food allergies that I usually pack all my own food for a trip. I will look for a little one to fit in the bag; no need to bring the huge family sized one.

I pack food. My kids think I am cheap, but I am actually picky, picky, picky! It was a sad day for me when I realized I could no longer pack a meal to carry on to an airplane. It kinda ruins traveling for me.

I don't know what size crockpot you have, but if it's one of the big round ones, it's handy to use the ice cream buckets to make frozen crockpot meals. Just layer all of your ingredients in the ice cream bucket and freeze. When you're ready to cook, just slide it out and into the crockpot.

What??? I can't pack my own food on the airline? Last time I checked that was ok. I have a medi alert braclet and all. I even have prescription items that I have to carry and those can not be counted as part of the carry on luggage per federal regulations.

Smart smart smart.

Our last vacation was a weekend getaway. Our friend gave us the hotel points so our room was free. Before we left we made turkey burgers, BBQ chicken and bratwurst. We ate every meal in the hotel room with the help of the microwave or we ate cold chicken. We had cole slaw and fruit and veggies. We splurged on one meal out of 7. I figure we saved 100s of dollars. Spend money where you want and remind your mom that her opinion is just that: her opinion.
