Am I having Rooster problems?

! Great to have you with us! A rooster to hen ratio is about 1 rooster to 10 hens...so you'll have to really add if you go that route. Good luck whatever you decide!

Thank you for the nice welcome. I got 4 more hens last night. I'm hoping that 4 to 1 is going to work out. From the polls it doesn't look good, but it's worth a shot. My coop isn't big enough for more Chickens and that's a lot to keep up with because they are free range. I just love my Chickens, so Abby the Rooster is just gonna have to settle for less. I hope, I hope this will do.

I think you need to take him or her out of the breeding pool for awhile. Hens can sustain significant damage or death from a rooster that continually overbreeds them. The usual rationale is 10 hens per rooster (in terms of fertility) and this poor girl needs to be rescued. If you don't need fertile eggs to sell or hatch, maybe you could rehome him. There are just too many worthwhile roosters looking for homes - to keep this him. I hope she will be alright.

Like I said... I keep a close eye on the Chickens. No worries Drumstick Diva I won't let any of the Hens or Roosters suffer. I'm new at this I know, but with all of you helping me I'm gonna get educated. Thanks for your advise. :)
