Am I keeping her alive for me or her

I am so very sorry for what you're going through. The same thing happened to me with my sweet Bullwinkle-duck a couple years ago. It was heart-breaking. I took him to a regular vet a few times, and even to an avian vet who took xrays, did bloodwork, etc...no cause found for his issues. Gave him all kinds of medicines...dewormers, steroids, antibiotics...nothing helped. I even built him a rolling walker (similar to what babies use) which he hated. I struggled with the same question - is he alive for his sake or mine - because he was still very lively and had a great appetite. I finally got my answer when he could no longer swim - he would just roll over and nearly drown. I mean, a duck that can't fly or walk, okay, but he can't swim? What's the point in being a duck if you can't swim?

That's really sad. We have 2 muscovies, that used to be 3. The little one had similar issues, bad balance, couldn't extend her neck, couldn't jump over anything, or get out of the water. The vet we took her to was an avian specialist. He said she had a congenital neurological problem, that was exaserbated by the stress of laying, and mating with our drake. We chose to put her down, but it was very sad, and I don't envy anyone in your position. Best of luck with a very tough situation

Thank You everyone....it was very hard...but once I made the decision and followed through with it...I knew it was the right thing to do for her...and thanks to those who shared their experiences....it helps to reassure me that indeed it was the best thing for her....

I'm so sorry
