I could go on and on but I won't...your mother needs to get a hold of the checkbook and do what's right for you and your family for the mess they put you in!

17 months of boarding plus grooming for $1000 is a steal... less than $60/month... less than $2 a day... and I bet they're well aware of just how much they've taken advantage. And that's on top of the incredible amount of damage they've done to your home. Their dog, their responsibility so far as I'm concerned they may as well have shredded your house themselves.

Next time either of them comes over hand them the leash, toss his 'bags' out the door, and give them a copy of all the names/numbers at the link above and tell them good luck... oh and maybe a detailed invoice of all the damage, including the still paying on note for your couch... maybe they'll open their eyes and see how badly they've abused you... but I doubt it. Doesn't sound like they really give a crap about anyone but themselves.

They are really lucky because if he had did one of those things to my house he would have been out the door. I would be coming with a blank check if my dog destroyed your home like that.

OK, We have dogs, 5 of them to be exact, 4 are under 15lbs and 1 is 115lbs. My dogs do get on the furniture, but they do not tear things up (with the exception of toys) they do sometimes poop in the house, honestly, my husband pays no attention to their "signals" and if I am not here, well .......

But when we go to visit my parents, yes dogs come with us, we built a kennel down there, nice dog house and all 5 stay outside. If my animals damaged my parents property, I would expect to pay for it. In fact years ago when I moved out to CA, my cat stayed with my parents for a couple months, happened to be near Christmas, she knocked down and broke several pretty pricey ornaments off my Mom's tree. I paid her for them.

you are in a really tough spot.. but I tell ya it would be a fight and probably a time period of silence but my husband would have gone balistic before all this damage was done. . your gonna have to be strong and tell them give you more money out of the settlement to replace and repair.

Wow, this is just incredible. Hopefully from the feedback so far you realize you are NOT out of line for being angry, that's ridiculous. They are being massively inconsiderate. I'm afraid, based on your added posts, that if you kennel him now they might not do the repairs and replacements that they should out of spite. They might say they can't buy you a sofa because they had to pay for kennel costs. Gosh, this is an awful position to be in. Here you are helping out to be nice, and they are really taking advantage of you, I'm sorry.

.. for the first week he was here he would not eat cause the dogs do not eat in the dining room with the humans the back hall is the K-9 dining hall..lol

My response would have been, "Yeah, but did you and mom chew up her good sofa?"
