Im get picked on so much by my sister for liking chickens, Im sorry to bring my personal problems on here, I just wanted to know if im the only one. My sister two sister and both getting married, And my 17 year old sister, always makes comments like " you are going to marry a chicken " At first its was funny " i did a fake laugh" but after the 100th time it gets old. We got in a fight today, and she told me that again and I finally had a melt down. My mom has been getting on her lately for it too.

Do any of you guys get picked on for lovig chickens?

I don't - except I think that my wife hasn't completely bought into the endeavor. Most of my friends and family think it's pretty cool.
I do get picked on by family about things that happened over 30 years ago.
I finally told them if they couldn't think of anything new to discuss, just don't bother talking to me. It got really old to hear year after year that one Thanksgiving dinner I arrived late with the salad. (the morning after I had to work till 4:00 AM and overslept) Some people aren't kind or creative when it comes to new topics of conversation. LOSERS
They could just be jealous that you have a healthy hobby and they don't.

Yes my best friends at school pick on me all the time. Every time i open my mouth before i say anything they walk away and say i dont want to hear anything about chickens. Then if i actually do say something about chickens then they walk away saying your obsessed!!! I really am obsessed i love chickens but my friends dont understand because they are city folk...

Yes, I do. My family has taken to calling me the chicken hoarder, which I don't really appreciate. The all have adequate housing, which is cleaned regularly and plenty of food and checked on daily for eggs and fresh water. In fact, I have 5 extra roos boxed up on my porch waiting for someone to come pick up, because I just listed them on Craigslist. So yes, I love my chickens, but I do get teased about it.

exactly I just stoped talking to my friends about chickens, I really cant be myself around them, so im slowly tring to stop talking to them.

My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I don't care! I love my 4 hens, and he never complains about getting fresh eggs!

Most people hear I keep chickens and say "Chickens!?!?" in a way that suggests I have slugs for pets or something. Recently reunited with an old friend and he said "I'm really shocked you keep chickens". I said, "SHOCKED?? Why??" And he said "Because they're such filthy animals.

I just get it from my DH....however, he talks about me and the chickens at work. We both work union nuclear plant jobs and I am just about to go in so I will hear all about it once I get down to the plant. He says they are JUST chickens. I say they are more than that. My DGD and I are chicken partners....in fact we are getting ready to head out to get our new incubator that has been given to us!

I be hatchin chickens now!

My friends on facebook get a kick out of it....however I have influenced quite a few people who are now planning on chickens this spring. Have already taken fresh eggs to the training center and have a few more dozen to take on Monday to people who wanted them.

I love my chickens, enjoy watching them....find it facinating their behaviors.

So, does it bother me? Not at all......if they don't like to hear about my chickens they don't have to talk to me....but they better not ask for eggs!

From someone who was known as the "crazy zookeeper" as a kid. Who cares? Don't let other peoples problems become yours. Of course it took me many winters to reach this point. I'm helping my grandchildren to embrace their weirdness at an earlier age.
