Am I the only one who thinks my friend is crazy for this? *dog based*

I'll bet there's a veterinarian who would put the dog down for them for less than eighty dollars.

Or why not take the dog to the eighty dollar kill shelter? Eighty dollars is less than a lawsuit or a medical bill. Sutures, tetanus and rabies shots are expensive. My friend's kid got bit up about 20 years ago - it cost over five thousand dollars way back then. There was the emergency, a followup, and a cosmetic surgery with several followups.

But knowing how people are, they always think they are better than everyone else and can fix the dog, they'll keep it until it attacks someone, and they get sued and get criminal charges.

I would NEVER keep a dog like this on my property. Never..
And with children around it too?? I'd call CPS..
Your friends arent just "crazy", they are neglient parents.

Honestly I too, would, if the children were younger agree that they are negligent parents, however they are 9 and 12, have ben raised around much larger animals (the horses), one of which is fickle himself.

they both know extremely well what this dog is, and the fact that he is NOT friendly, they know he is NOT a pet, however kids being kids, they gave him a name, neither kid engages in feeding or watering the dog, neither kid gets too close, or even trys to play with him. I think there is a big difference, in say, if the dog were already THERES and they were responsible for the aggressive behavior, and THEN allowing their kids near the dog, OR having SMALLER kids near the dog.

I personally just got back from seeing this dog, (yes I drove a total of about 6 hours to and back just to stare at a wild dog for 30 minutes) LMAO

And I am just, wow, I can see where Joshua is coming from TO a point, I have seen fearful beat dogs, I have seen aggressive dogs who have been beat and abused, and I have seen just plain skiddish and unfriendly dogs,

but I have NEVER seen a dog like this one, just pure wild in his eyes, you can SEE it, there's a difference between a dog who has been beat and abused and then thrown out to fend for itself, and that is, that they STILL want to be with and please humans after a while. This dog does not, he does not want anything to do with humans, and that made me feel bad for him. there is no pleading "love me" look to this dogs eyes, only indifference, the only thing he wanted, was to get as FAR away from us as possible.

when I got there, I let Joshua and everyone go out first, I stayed inside, when they went out the dog was sleeping, he jumped up, and skittered to the far reach of the rope as far as he could get, and just stood there, head was lowered, equal to the shoulder line, tail was down but not tucked, ears lowered but not flattened, and he stood, still as stone, looking every which way as if looking for an escape.

but when I went out, he got really unconfortable, he started to immediately pace he length of the rope, he got to breathing so hard, and so freaked out, I had to go back in, so we all went back inside, and it took this dog a full 15 minutes to calm down enough to lay back down.

I am honestly thinking either he has NEVER been around humans or he was with them so short a time/ his tme with them was SO bad, that he just can't stand being around us it scares him so bad.

he NEVER barked, accept ONCE when I first came out, and that was just a "wuff", and I think he scared himself because he jumped

, they said that was the FIRST time.

I told them honestly the best thing and this was my opinion was to put him down, or find a center of some sort for domestic feral animals.

the shelters around both of our areas SUCK to be honest, the one that charges 80$ makes you fill out a reliquish paper, so no matter if it's YOUR animal or not, you cannot adopt for a certain ammount of time. I don't exactly know the full details.

I will have to admit that he IS a pretty dog, I meant to take a few pics and a short video but he was so freaked out, I couldn't decent pictures with my crappy camera phone.
