I've read that hens don't usually live long enough to lay all the eggs they are born with. I think Peep just might do it!

I'm the gal by the montana border. You were so kind to me and patient with my grandaughter when we came to buy the guineas. They are doing great, and a few tasted great too.Good for you on getting some peafowl! I really like mine. Hope your guineas have done well too.
Where are you located? I sent baby guineas all over the state last summer.![]()

We have a 7 year old hen who had stopped laying last year, then on Christmas Day she laid a lovely blue egg (she is an EE) She has continued to lay on average 3 eggs a week since. Every time I think she is done, her comb gets bright red again and she continues to lay. After hearing your story, I am interested in seeing how long she lays, even if it's on and off. She is kept as a pet as well, as she is our oldest hen.Glad to hear they are doing well. I've never eaten a guinea but I've had a few males I was tempted to eat! I'll have more this summer if you need them.![]()

I think she must be very proud and wants the other hens to know that if she can continue to lay eggs, they should pick up their game and lay more. She certainly deserves the admiration of all who know her, chickens and humans!Peep has laid a few eggs every spring for the last several years. This year I decided to mark on my calendar whenever she laid one. I couldn't believe that a hen that old would still be laying eggs. None of my 7, 8 & 9 year old hens lay anymore. She makes such a racket when she does lay that I can hear it in the house. Don't know if it hurts or if she's just proud of herself. But I'm proud of her.![]()
