Camp, I haven't read the whole thread yet, but I would start a compost pile now for black gold in 2019 growing season. Put all your manure, leaves,,kitchen scraps in it with some fertilizer. Water & turn it regularly. It won't be manure by next year.
Just no meat scrap though

I started trying to make a garden plan based on the square-foot method. I’m sure this is part of my problem, but I’m so averse to traditional “rows” and really love an exciting, varied approach where I can squeeze in lots of variety in a small space. I think Bed A (left) is pretty good. I gave up on Bed B, just like in real life. This was all from memory, so I might have the spacing wrong, but I’ll fix it when the seeds come in. Each block is a square foot.

Then I want to plant a bit over at the chicken coop, some pest repellents.

Only the strawberries are in the same exact same place because they’re already growing from wintering over. Is rotation still important if I’m completely redoing the soil?

Camp, I always find that no matter how much planning I do, I still end up having more seeds than I have space for lol. I would go crazy if I had that much space to work with.

It’s easy when you don’t have any knowledge or equipment. :hide

Because you are redoing the soil I would say your okay, but maybe Jane knows better on that front.

Well I have the knowledge & the equipment. I just want to try so many new things that by the time everything is planted at the correct distances I've run out of room. Couldn't be the 40+ tomato plants taking up all the space lol.

This would be the third year for tomatoes in that bed, but I remembered I’m going to do them in buckets. I found an article that makes it pretty easy, I’ll see what I can redraw.

Maybe just switching the Bed A plan to Bed B would be good enough.

You need that square gardening book!
